My goal as an instructor is to show the student the abilities that he/she has and guide them each individually and focus on their own unique needs/talents.  Discovering or enhancing one’s own capability of playing music is an awesome and quite powerful gift.  One should not be limited to just learning to play by way of notated music, but also understanding it at the fundamental level.  By learning the rudimentary elements of harmony and melody and by applying that knowledge with little or no reading involved or without the use of arrangements, creates a foundation and instills a much greater diverse, and intellectual perspective with a more sophisticated knowledge, that will constantly enrich, influence, consistently build confidence and widely broaden musicianship throughout each’s own musical endeavors.  Reading music should be an asset to someone who can play music without the need for notated music.  Understanding music both intellectually and aesthetically and possessing the ability to read and interpret it through playing will put you at an advantage at a much higher level and give you many more options, both creatively and technically, without boundaries and limitations in all musical situations.

LESSON POLICY

Lessons are conducted weekly (unless otherwise stated).  Students are expected to practice their assignments diligently and have it prepared for the next lesson in order to excel, progress and achieve their musical goals with success.  Practicing should be done daily if possible, for at least a few minutes, preferably 20-30 minutes for beginner /intermediate levels, and 30-60 minutes for advanced.   Any amount of time is better than no time at all!

Students must attend lessons weekly.  A student that will not be attending a lesson on any given week (scheduled/not scheduled) will be provided with a make-up lesson.  Please give at least a courteous 24 hours notification if you are not able to attend.   All cancelled or missed lessons will be rescheduled and made up on a suitable day.   Lessons cancelled or missed without at least 24 hours notice are not made up, except in certain situations.  Payment in cash or by check is preferred in advance for each month, or longer, including missed lessons, which are normally made up.

Learning music should be fun, interesting, and gratifying.  Each lesson should be a time to shine and show your ability and to learn the necessary skills and rudiments that are essential and critical to every pupil’s sustained accomplishments.  Students should not feel pressured, but at ease during the lesson.  With good insight, focus and compliance, I can assure that this will be a very rewarding experience.

I wish you the best in all your musical endeavors!
